How a Hot Tub Works...

Hot Tub Pumps - One or more pumps are used to circulate the water in and out of the hot tub. There are two distinct functions performed by the pumps, filtering and operating the jets.. The pumps suck the water out of the tub into a piping system, where the water is run over or under a heating element, which then pumps the water back into the tub.

Hot Tub Jets - The fast flow of water generated by the pumpīs action pulls air from an air line through the hot tub jets. The resultant air/ water mix creates bubbles. The air line is connected to a valve that allows air bubbles to be turned on or off. To control the amount of bubbles, the jets are also connected to a series of valves that permit individual jets to be turned on or off.

How a Hot Tub works

Hot Tub Heaters - As the water circulates through the spa the heating element warms it; the degree of warming is controlled by the bather but water temperature should never be allowed to exceed 104 degrees Fahrenheit (40 degrees celcius). If children or adult bathers are using the tub for prolonged periods of time, the water temperature should not exceed 98 degrees Fahrenheit (approx. 36 degrees celcius). The temperatures given here are rough guides only; if in doubt about safe water temperature, always consult a medical professional before bathing.

Hot Tub Filters - The hot tub’s filter is instrumental in keeping the water clean and clear and works alongside spa sanitizing agents and Ozonators in performing this task. An Ozonator uses a light to generate Ozone. Ozone performs the same task as bromine or chlorine and can reduce the need to add chemicals to the water.
